On 21 March 2012 Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat announced at a press event that Coleman was set to as the Doctor's companion along with Matt Smith after Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill have left the show. Moffat said that he chose Coleman to be the companion because she would be the best companion for Smith. Additionally, Moffat noted that she talked faster than Smith. She is more well-known for her work on television than in the film industry. Eva's roles in TV series The Dr. Maria Santos, in All My Children, and detective Natalia Boa Vista in CSI Miami stand out. In fact, the role as the character Dr. Maria Santos in All My Children earned her the two Daytime Emmy nominations. This allowed her to showcase her music creativity. Eva isn't just an actress, she is an entrepreneur and philanthropist. She has been married thrice and is the mother of a child from her previous husband.
