Silk was born Silk was born in Fredericton (New Brunswick), Canada. Ilkay is the daughter of Peter who is an educator as well as a leading actress and playwright. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. Anna has some of her earliest memories of watching and going to rehearsals for plays. Silk was a small girl in a variety of commercials. She graduated with a Bachelor's in Arts in 1997 from St. Thomas University in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas staged two plays in the early years: Seven Menus & The Kitchen. Silk moved to Toronto to further her acting career in November 1999, and during the decade that followed, she relocated in the following decade to Los Angeles, California. Seth Cooperman was her future spouse when she first began to meet him in 2007 at an Actors' Workshop at Los Angeles. When they got engaged in 2008, the couple got married in 2009. On April 10, 2011 they reaffirmed their vows during a Jewish ceremony in Fredericton following her conversion to Judaism.
